Projecting his imagination beyond conventional limitations, outstanding German producer Gleb Choutov has already had notable releases through UK’s Foundation Audio, Truth’s ‘Deep, Dark & Dangerous’ or a 12” on Swiss vinyl imprint ‘re:st’. True to experimental bass music, a granular and multi-faceted approach pairs up with a heavyweight foundation. Along the lines of 140 beats per minute his music beautifully weaves exploratory sonic inclinations into the framework of contemporary Dubstep and Breaks. Austrian imprint Sub Audio is proud to announce their newest family member with a detonative three-track EP titled ‘Immer Wieder’.

Commencing fire, keen listeners are thrown into an ever-changing vortex of foley samples, rhythmically aligned with a plethora of breaks and fills re-fueling the highly engineered groove. Out of the depths of the title track – haunting, melodic fragments reverberate into ethereal echo chambers – professing Gleb Choutov’s remarkable sound design. As we move on to ‘Am Rande’ – a hypnotic venture unfolds itself in a flurry of string movements and electronic bleeps. Blending profound low end oscillations with clangorous drums – heaving the gargantuan soundscape towards your ears. A change of pace occurs in ‘Blickwechsel’, as its musical nature takes a more pensive form, bursting out with energetic strides – the arrangement effortlessly flowing throughout. As a whole, the EP serves to showcase an exceptionally unique style, presented at its best.

Press release:

Sourcing the next intense array of musical armaments from the German underground – Ziplokk, who’s always had and continues to have a firm grasp on ‘proper’ Dubstep has endowed us with this next release. Among others, he’s also released with Gaze ill’s Cue Line Records and Swiss-based Subotage Records, as well as having received support/airplay from J:Kenzo or N-Type on radio stations like Rinse FM. Having lived in Berlin for years, it was time for the producer and DJ to take a break from the hectic day-to-day life and move to the rural North, where his creativity was once again able to flow readily – the result of which we’re proud to present to you, catalogued as ‘SUBAD005’. Fully re-charged, he’s taken a more melodical approach than usual for his massive debut here at Sub AudioRecords.

As industrious pads accompany skanking chords, melodic excellence and foley percussion, ‘Trust Me’ kicks off the EP amidst a pulsating low-end and infectious groove. His versatile, groove-infused drum arrangement keeps us dancing to the beat, left to skank in the sonic ocean Ziplokk has conjured for us here. On the remix duties, label head Gnischrew has treated the tune to a heated version – creatively envisioning it as a two-faced beast. Smooth, soulful chords alternate with distorted sine movements, coming together beautifully within a new-found groove. Completing the release, ‘Me Nah Play’ is here to seal the deal. Ethereal chimes reverberate on top of the energetic drum layout, coming together beautifully on smooth sub oscillations. A signal of sonic resistance, hailing the underground.

Tracklist:

1. Linguist – Ibogaine
2. Linguist – One
3. Linguist – Stomper

Press release:

Building up momentum throughout its first year in operation, the Austrian imprint Sub Audio is gearing up to unleash another installment in their digital release series, dubbed ‘SUBAD004’. Based in Vienna, the label has made swift moves to recognition within the scene with vinyl releases by label manager Gnischrew or the venerated duo Elefant Doc & Dillard, as well as limited editions on Grime conniseur DMG and Belgian heavyweight Zygos. For its fourth digital release, it is calling upon the sounds of UK-born Linguist, having previously had his debut with SUBAF003 ‘Wardance / Hypnosis’. Titled ‘Ibogaine EP’, we’re met with three prime examples of his devastating dancefloor capabilities, all firmly founded within the realm of Dubstep – uniquely influenced by his original take on old-school tendencies and modern soundscapes.

Thrown into a sonic jungle, the tropic ambience succinctly envelops us in a psychedelic foundation, led on by tribal percussion and mystifying French monologue. Reverberating into a moment of tension, the dancefloor shell unveils its true nature – low frequency madness. In midst of ethnic chants, spheric pads and a plethora of atmospheric foley, the driving rhythm paves its path, fire through and through. Centering ourselves, ‘One’ commences its tensive, melodic approach, preparing keen listeners for the impending sub onslaught. Whether Linguist calls upon fierce strings, ethereal bells or sounds of the future – effortlessly keeping both us and dancefloors around the world moving to his drum beat. Speaking of which, ‘Stomper’ turns up the heat in a grand finale, shoving a ridiculous groove and bass compound into our amplifiers – no holds barred.

Dishing out fiery beats left and right, Zygos from Belgium is one of our favorite current artists, specializing in abysmal sound design and haunted reverberations. Press release:

A monumental display of Austrian version business, releasing a total of six remixes, based on our debut release SUBA001. All the music was sourced locally for this release – in an effort to support and spotlight the scene’s most talented artists.

Established in late 2016, we’ve already received support by the likes of FatKidOnFireInfernal Sounds and Keep Deep as well as White Label MagazineSeekSickSound and more with our first vinyl by Gnischrew and an array of high-quality giveaways.

Catalogued as ‘SUBAD001’ – the compilation is a stellar display of cohesive material, presented in a stylistically unique amalgamation. Starting off with DMG’s spin on the original – the listener is thrown into a vortex of skillful bassline excursions and a sense of Grime-infused aggression. Following up on his soundsystem-oriented style of delivering weight, Raptix emerges with loose, even playful excellence through his creative take on ‘Transmission Failure’, basking in prodigious space.

DubApe, established Austrian Dubstep producer with releases on FKOF, Bacon Dubs & Mainframe Rec. under his belt – has delivered a gargantuan version, holding true to the original arrangement and showing off his clear proficiency in setting dancefloors on fire around the world. As the only ‘Fluid Foundation’ version – Dubnius’ remix sets a different tone – effortlessly flowing sub movement with a minimalistic, infectious groove. Complementing the otherwise more Dubstep-influenced release, core crew member Linguist’s remix batters the listener’s expectation with a no-holds-barred drum and bass interpretation, akin to the original old school soundscapes.

Concluding this diverse demonstration of Austrian bass music, the renowned studio mastermind behind Dubblestandart took the concept of remixing back to its roots – executing an immaculate live dub mix, aided by a full-size SSL console and his trusty analogue Space-Echo.

With support from the likes of FatKidOnFire, shuOldGoldARtroniksand Sepia among others – this assembly of vibes
is sure to cause a disruption in the scene. Making it known, there is indeed a vibrant and growing scene, transcending national borders, containing a subconscious message of love for bass and unity for all.
